Born and raised in San Diego, California, I moved to Egypt at age 18 to study Political Science at the American University in Cairo (AUC). Perpetually curious and searching for deeper truth, I fell in love with Egypt and chose to pursue journalism. After traveling to Jerusalem for research, where I published my first piece “Who Defines Terrorism?” in Harvard International Review‘s blog, I returned to California to finish a degree in Middle Eastern and North African Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
After finishing my studies, I returned to Cairo, where I worked in culture and lifestyle journalism and social media management for one of the largest English-language webzines in the Middle East. From there, I went on to work in content development at an international community organization.
For the past several years, I’ve worked as a remote independent contractor for web platforms across industries.
